I have written a personal blog since 2013, on what is now an ancient, ghost town of a platform that most bloggers abandoned years ago. The theoretical readers who might like my writing could not subscribe to posts, or follow me, or even find me. So, while it was a fine place to be for a while, eventually I felt like I was writing into a void, unseen and unheard. It was more draining than fulfilling.
I write to be part of the conversation. I write to explore being alive. I write as an offering of gratitude to this wild, breathing Earth to which we were born.
Writing is my voice. I write in order to not be silent, to not be invisible.
That is why I moved over to Substack. It is why I am beginning a new personal blog, A Dryad’s Tale. To come out from my dark corner, and dare to be heard.
Writing about the wildlands around us and within us, I have realized, is less a hobby for me than it is a spiritual practice. Like our ancestors did, I consider this Earth our sacred home. Earth’s vast powers of creation, change and regeneration express themselves in a world of ever-unfolding being, shape and form — all entities inspirited, all holding wonder and wisdom, all gifts freely offered to sustain the web of life.

There is no charge/paywall for what I post here, and I will not create two classes of subscribers. You have access to all of my writings and brilliant insights, all of the time (ha).
I expect to post at least once a month, and definitely no more than once a week. There is no formal schedule. But I am likely to post on seasonal shifts during the wheel of the year, or when I have something to say.
As you read, if anything resonates with you, please do subscribe. Or, give me a like or comment to let me know someone out there is reading.
From the wild garden,

I am excited to have discovered you (Through Terri Windling's Myth & Moor. I've have been a fan and follower of Terri Windling for years, just as you, after reading The Wood Wife, then finding Myth & Moor)! The words in which you describe the Earth and why you write resonate deeply within. Looking forward to reading more!
