Dear Carmine, even in the short time that I have been reading your work the writing has deepened and taken on a charge and charm, a delicacy of touch. I hope you yourself are thrilled by the sound of it (even if you won't admit to that out loud :-)). Truly an end in itself, wherever it takes you next.
David, high praise indeed coming from a master of the light touch. Your encouragement, and the standard set by your own beautiful writings, do help me push myself more. Deep gratitude and thanks. xo
Carmine, this is stunning. Robert Hass has this line in his poem where he says, “Longing, we say, because desire is full of endless distances.” Your writing brings me closer to a yearning that feels complete in itself. Thank you for your words.
I read your beautiful prose so fast, as if to greedily eat every word, as it was so moreish! Then I remembered my manners, and savoured every last flower species you described so wonderfully.
If you find a little fairy holding an echinacea umbrella against the raindrops, that'll be me, shapeshifting to have a good nosey in your amazing garden!
Holy Dang Carmen!! Are you willing to let lose your beautiful insight and prose??! CJ said check it and I am very moved. Can you put it on the BC? Can I share this??
Hi Rob! Thank you for reading and your kind words. Please feel free to share with anyone, there should be a “Share” icon at the bottom of the screen in the app. xo
Thank you for your gift, Carmine. In my mind, I wandered your garden at your side and then, between the rain drops, I wandered out into my own little patch of heaven, my work in progress. Thank you for reminding me of Rebecca McMackin's TED talk that I watched last year. I just revisited it with renewed interest. Gardening is such a learning experience, but the joy of watching the insects reaping the benefits of my labor brings this old woman such comfort and pleasure. Keep spinning out your delightful sonnets, neighbor!
So, so lovely! Kimmerer is a Soul sister of mine. Being in Nature is a gift because it is there that we are reminded that we ARE not alone. It something every single one of us needs whispered in his or her ear. Thanks for sharing, Carmine! XO
